E-commerce agency Yellowgrape is acquiring Markant Internet, a Hengelo-based specialist in SEO, SEA, and link building. With the acquisition, which was finalized last Friday, the Amsterdam-based agency is adding about twenty search specialists in one fell swoop and opening its third office, in addition to those in Amsterdam and Berlin.

This is Yellowgrape’s second acquisition, coming two years after it acquired Berlin-based Fingerspitzengefühl. While that move was primarily about geographic expansion, this one is focused on deepening organic search visibility.

“Organic search visibility is becoming the growth channel of the AI era, but the rules of the game are being rewritten,” says co-founder Johan Smits in an interview with Emerce. His business partner, Rik van den Wijngaard, adds: “We’re seeing explosive demand for discoverability among our clients.” The Amsterdam-based company is pursuing a cautious ‘buy or build’ strategy. With that in mind, it launched the AI specialist Brainvine—now known as Sero —under its own banner.
